Boy, Girl, Boy, Boy, Girl

Here's a little project I made this weekend for Ali's room. The chipboard is Maya Road and the little people came all hooked like that. Ben took one look at it and asked who the pirate was in the middle. Yeah... that was supposed to be a baseball hat. Oh well.

Scrap challenges

Ok, I admit that I am a scrap challenge blog junkie. For some reason, these challenges always propel me to get scrapping. Of course, I never have time to do as many as I like, but I ALWAYS check them out. I thought today I would share some favorites...

www.methodplayground.blogspot.com (I am partial to this one - ha)

http://hmitm.blogspot.com/ (LOVE this one - helps use up stuff)

Pretty Bags

Check out these gorgeous bags I bought yesterday on etsy. I found the artist (who goes by the great name of "thefunkybaglady") through the scrap website Studio Calico. She is also a scrapper along with gorgeous-bag-maker. Thanks for pointing this out, Denise!

If you want to check out her shop, go to...

I honestly had a REALLY hard time picking. I bought one for a present and one for me, and I don't even carry bags most of the time!

I'm loving the color combos here... I may have to use them in a project of my own.

Inspiration Outcome

Ok, I actually did clean that pile last night, and it does feel better. Anyone want some Real Simple Magazines? I hate to toss them. Let me know...

Anyhoo, I took a minute this afternoon to create a digital card (which will later be printed and sent) based (VERY loosely) on the following ad:

And here is what I did with it. Ants to type, house to flower, white to purple.... doesn't matter. It's the inspiration that counts.

I am by no means in love with it, but that's ok. On to the next thing.

Inspiration Overload

Anyone else have a pile like this somewhere?

I will admit to being a magazine junkie. I suppose you can learn alot about a person by their stack of magazines. Mine? Scrapbook Trends magazine, Good Housekeeping, Parenting, Pottery Barn Kids, Simple Scrapbooks, Creating Keepsakes.... on and on.

I go through each page not only for the stories, but in the hopes of finding inspiration. A fun color combination, a cool design, a new way to use type. When I see something that jumps out at me, I rip the page out to save for later.

Unfortunately, sometimes the pile overwhelms me and those ripped-out pages end up stuck in the heap, never to be used. I really need a better way. Not fewer magazines (perish the thought!), but a better way to organize. Tonight, I will clean up this pile and USE at least one of those pieces of inspiration for a project. Check back to see what I came up with (please, I need accountability - ha).

NYC Scraps

I have been lucky enough to do some work for a very cool online scrap class at the site http://www.nycscraps.com/. The class focuses on techniques and is $25 for an entire month worth of instruction and inspiration. I completed 5 layouts for the class, which is taught by the talented and sweet Sherry Steveson.

Sherry is giving away a class for one lucky winner who posts on her blog... http://sherrysteveson.typepad.com/my_weblog/

Come check it out!

Project complete!

Well, after months of putzing around waiting for time and inspiration, my changing table wall project is finally complete. Here she is.... I have to admit I'm rather happy with it. A nice feeling.
