Flower Fun

Here is a fun little project that I made today using my June kit from Studio Calico, a few tiny photos and a simple terra cotta pot.

How to:
(1) Paint pot as desired and set aside to dry. When dry, place a plant in it.
(2) Cut length of green craft wire about 12 inches long.
(3) Thread layers of felt, paper, buttons, whatever onto the wire (up through the bottom and then back down). I put a clear button on the bottom of each pile of goodies to make it a little heftier.
(4) Twist wire at the base of the goodies and continue twisting all the way down to make a wire stem.
(5) To add photos (there are 4 in my project), cover photo with a clear circle epozy sticker and cut around it. Adhere to the top layer of the flower with a pop dot or glue dot.
(6) Randomly stick the scrappy flowers in the dirt. Voila!

Paper profiles

Ok, here is my version of the profile project. I covered a 6 x 8 canvas with word paper from 7 Gypsies. I then covered that with mod podge and tissue paper to dull it down a bit. I painted with black paint around the edges. I cut Ben's profile out onto green paper, ran a thin black line around the edge to give some definition, and attached it to the canvas with pop dots. Next I painted with black and then red to cover a grungeboard "B". It still needed a little somethin' so I added a couple rub-ons.
Still to come - A for Ali and E for Eric. :)

More Magazine Inspiration

Found this little blurb in the latest Good Housekeeping, and it reminded me of the fact that I have wanted to try to make some form of silouettes for the kids for quite awhile now. I made a trip to Michaels (and A.C. Moore) and got some canvases. Check back tomorrow to see my version of this project.

Method Playground Challenge

There is a new challenge up over at Method Playground. This one is to use fabric on a layout. Here is mine:

I made the little "yo-yos" with pieces of fabric. Very fun to do. Come check out the other layouts and play along! www.methodplayground.blogspot.com

Layout from my self-imposed paint challenge

Here is the layout I just did after choosing a 3-color combo from my paint stash. I chose the red/orange/purple paints and decided not to just use the color combination, but to use the paints themselves. The background paper is from http://www.papermojo.com/. They have DELICIOUS papers there, and you can even buy little samples. Photo is of my poor little Ben, who seems to have my bug bite sensitivity. :(

More color fun

It is hard for me to remember it now, but I used to be afraid of color. I did LOTS of black and white and my color schemes were usually fairly calm. NO MORE! When I saw this week's color combo challenge at Scrapperie, I instantly had an idea. These Sassafras Lass papers were just the thing. Here is what I cane up with, followed by the color combo presented:

Colors, colors everywhere!

I was putting away some paint the other day on my paint shelf, and it struck me how many fun color combinations were right there in front of me for the choosing! I always just stick them back randomly, and this was a great reminder to me to keep my eyes open all around me for fun color possibilities. Stay tuned - I'm going to see if I can use one of these 3-hue combos to make a little something. :)
